Shannon Shoup, Program Officer firstname.lastname@example.org
Shannon manages all aspects of the GBC certification program including standards review and compliance. She holds degrees in both cellular biology and regulatory science and previously worked in the biotechnology industry. She is also the founder of the Funeral Consumers Alliance of Southern California.
Joe Sehee, Program Officer Joe@greenburialcouncil.org
Joe is the founder of the GBC and was the Executive Director from 2005 - 2012. Joe oversees outreach and advocacy for the Council and heads up the newly formed GBC International. A senior fellow with the Environmental Leadership Program, Joe consults on green burial projects that further ecological restoration and landscape-level conservation.

Sam analyzes material safety data sheets and associated documentation required from manufacturers for GBC certification of caskets and urns. Trained as an industrial engineer, Sam has been trained in both sustainable manufacturing techniques and lean process integration. He is also a Peace Corp volunteer working in Southern Africa.

Sam earned his BS in Mortuary Science and Funeral Service from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He has circumnavigated the globe while studying non-profit leadership and has conducted research on the funeral rites of Ghana, South Africa, India, and Japan.

A recent graduate of the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke, Monica most recently served as an Energy Improvement and Management Research Fellow at Duke University and Skanska, analyzing the current sustainability practices of rural healthcare facilities in North Carolina.
